Once the files are loaded, following the instructions from Step 1: Loading Files, the Prep tab is automatically enabled, allowing the user to interact with the uploaded files to prepare them for the inspection.

Reminder: The inspection process goes through three stages:

  • Prep1

  • Results2

  • Report3

Prepare your files for inspection

The tools in this section allow users to mark up their files for partial or targeted inspections, limit the file comparison to a specific number of pages and enable additional inspection types like Spell Check and Zone Graphics.

Zone Text

The Zone Text4 tool is used to perform partial or targeted inspections. The user can specifically include sections of a given document in Text inspections (excluding all other text) and compare them directly to the corresponding portions in the other panel.

To create a Zone:

  • Click the Zone Text icon.

  • Choose between Text Select or Marquee.

    • Text Select: As you draw the bounding box, the text selected will follow the reading order of the document.

    • Marquee: The text selected will be restricted to the bounding box you create by drawing your selection.

  • Click and drag the cursor over the desired text in the Source panel. If the selected text exists in the New panel, it will automatically be matched and highlighted.

Note: Automatic text detection on the New file only works when using Text select.

  • Once the matched text is highlighted in the New panel, click Confirm2 if deemed acceptable, otherwise, click Set Manually1 to select a different area.

  • You can create multiple Zones as needed. Each Zone is numbered automatically following the order in which it was selected.

Note: If multiple matches are made when zoning an area in the Source file, the user can click on Next Match3 or Previous Match3 to navigate through each option until they choose the right one.

To modify/delete Zone:

  • To delete a Zone, click on the Zoned text in the Source panel then click Delete1.

  • To adjust the area selected, drag the corners of the Zone over the desired text.

  • To modify an existing Zone, click on the Zoned text in the New panel then click Unmatch2.

  • Repeat the process until you match the desired text on both panels.

  • Select Clear All to clear all markups.

Ignore Text

Ignore Text5 allows you to cross out any text you want to exclude during an inspection. The selected text is crossed out in red.

To use Ignore Text:

  • Click Ignore Text

  • Click and drag the cursor over the text to be excluded in either the Source or New panel.

To modify/delete Ignored Text:

  • To apply the cross-out to other pages in the document, click Apply to All Pages1

  • To delete ignored text, click on the crossed-out area, then click Delete2.

  • To adjust the crossed-out area, drag the corners of the selection over the desired text.

  • Select Clear All to clear all markups.

Note: Multiple selections can be made.

Note: Ignore Text and Zone Text cannot be applied together. Only one text tool can be used at a time.

Zone Graphics

Zone Graphics6 allows users to perform an inspection of the embedded images in the uploaded documents. The results are displayed as a flashing overlay of the Source and New file.

Using Zone Graphics:

  • Click the Zone Graphics icon.

  • Click and drag the cursor over the desired image.

  • To adjust the selected area, drag the corners of the selection over the desired image.

  • Select Confirm2 to accept the selection or Delete2 to make another selection in the Source file.

  • Once confirmed, the equivalent region on the New file gets highlighted automatically.

  • If the right area is selected, click Confirm.

Shifted Graphics

In the case that the artwork is not in the same location as the Source file, use Shifted Graphics.

  • Click Shifted Graphics

  • Place your crosshairs to mark your first anchor points on the Source file

Note: When doing this, select an easily recognizable area in the artwork on the source file that you can find in the new file (like a corner)

  • Place the crosshairs in the same place on your New file to

  • Match gets made automatically

Note: Use the zoom feature to get a better look in order to place the crosshairs. Use the space bar to switch from crosshairs to panning.

  • You can Zone multiple images as needed. Each image Zoned is numbered automatically following the order in which it was selected.

To Delete Zoned Graphics:

  • Click on the Zone created in the Source file then click Delete.

  • Select Clear All to clear all markups.

Clear All

Click Clear All7 to remove all markups (Zone Text, Ignore Text, and Zone Graphics)

Note: Clear All button is disabled unless you use one of the markup tools (Zone Text, Ignore Text, and Zone Graphics).

Enable Spell Check

With Spell Check8 enabled, Verify will flag spelling errors that exist in your New document.

  • Check the Enable Spell Check box

  • Select the right language from the dropdown

  • Results will display after you click Inspect

Language (Reading Direction)

The Language (Reading Direction)9 refers to the sequential display of content on the uploaded document. It is the order of the text elements interpreted by Verify, upon selection of one of the following options:

Page Selection

Page Selection10 allows users to include or exclude pages from a multi-page document when running an inspection. The options are Inspect All Pages and Page Range.

Inspect All Pages

Every page in the document gets inspected.

Page Range

Allows the user to limit the inspection to the indicated pages of the Source and New files by entering the range of pages desired.


While in the Prep tab, click Inspect11 to run an inspection. Once completed, the inspection results will display in the Results tab.
