Turn off Layers and Separations

What Does This Feature Do?

By clicking on the “eye icon” for each layer or separation, you can turn that component of the file either on, or off. To help reduce the difference count in the inspection, use this feature to remove PDF components that do not need to be inspected.

Why Use this Feature?

It is best practice to have the master and sample files be as close of a match as possible. Sometimes, this requires turning off some layers and/or separations.

When To Use It

  • To test layers or separations to see what impact they have on the file, and if they need to be inspected

When Not To Use It

  • You will not be able to use the “eye icon” to turn layers and separations on or off with flattened files

Expert Tips

  • It is best practice for PDF files to have each component of the artwork defined with its own layer or separation

  • Turn off layers and separations on master files so they look similar to scanned samples

  • Turn off PDF components such as the Title box, Color information, and Dimensions
